I question the honesty of these guys. I've been going here for years, but can't trust them again. I took my car in this afternoon after I got a puncture in the tyre and they said no worries, give us an hour. They phoned me back after about half an hour saying that the puncture was in an irrepairable area of the tyre, and the only tyre they had in stock to fit was a premium tyre costing over £150 (coincidentally my other tyres are premium brands). If I wanted to wait for a budget tyre they could get one for me the next day, or I could enquire at KwikFit to see if they had the right size (I'd already told the guy that I'd heard bad things about KwikFit and didn't want to use them). I didn't want a premium brand tyre, but neither did really want to have to drive over 30 miles again tomorrow to pick up a tyre, so I thought I'd check KwikFit. They did have the right spec and for £10 cheaper than McConechy's budget option, so I went to take my car there. Picking it up from McConechy's, the miserable old guy running the shop decided that he'd charge me £10 for having taken off my wheel (which he had to do to see the puncture) and replacing it with the spare! I've probably spent thousands on tyres with them over the years. Some way to treat a returning customer!

Then to add serious insult to injury, when I took the vehicle next door to KwikFit for a new tyre, the guy took one look at my puncture and said "that's repairable, you don't need a new tyre". He showed me with the measuring device and the puncture was an easy 12-15mm within the repairable area. It wasn't even borderline. What were McConechy's thinking? I think they were thinking they could sell me a brand new £150 premium tyre is what. The KwikFit mechanic couldn't believe that McConechy's had tried to con me into a new tyre and charged me £10 for removing a wheel, so he fixed my puncture for free. Now that's customer service! McConechy's could certainly learn a thing or two from them.

I have been put off in the past by the bad reputation of the KwikFit brand and have always used McConechy's instead. That's not going to happen any more. They have demonstrated to me quite clearly that they're money grabbers who can't be trusted.
